Northwood Shores: From Birch Grove to Great Lake

This exhibition is a visual journey across the magnificent landscapes of Northern Minnesota and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Artist James Ellis captures the full spectrum of this unique region, from the tranquil, richly textured Birch Groves and Autumn Trails to the vast, powerful expanse of the Great Lake. The collection highlights the contrasting moods and vibrant seasons of the area—from the golden solitude of the forest interior to the dramatic tension of crashing waves against the enduring sea stacks and iconic lighthouses. This body of work invites the viewer to experience the beauty, solitude, and raw elemental power found only where the ancient forest meets the inland sea.
