Short Artist Statement

I use watercolor to create an imaginary world that’s kinder and funnier than the real one.

Extended Artist Statement

My whimsical watercolors of forest animals doing human things are influenced by the illustrators of old children’s books — especially Beatrix Potter and Jill Barklem — and by the contemporary illustrators Sven Nordqvist and Mauri Kunnis. But my main influences are the indigenous animals of northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
