Short Artist Statement

I am a fiber artist who quilts, weaves, spins, dyes, knits and uses recycled items at times. I let the items pull me into what they want to look like. I am also a poet

Extended Artist Statement

I am a fiber artist working in quilting, recycling fabric, weaving, spinning, dyeing and knitting.
I love color, mixing design elements, letting the piece lead me where it wants to go. I have learned while making quilts to be patient, leave the quilt pieces on the floor, move them here and there, sleep as many nights as necessary and let the concept grow. Each piece is an experiment.
The love of color and fabric and design fills me out the most. When batik fabrics arrived, I was again transformed trying them. It is a constant pull to see what fabrics fit in my scheme of color and design.
I don’t always know why I make a quilt. Sometimes it starts with fabric that is not my style; or I see a design, a stained glass window or a painting. As I progress, a person may emerge to whom the quilt will belong.
All these principles are true for my weaving and knitting designs too.

For the next 3 months I have quilts hanging in the Aspirus St. Luke's Building A at 915 East Ave. n Duluth, MN. On second floor in the hallway leading across the street to other buildings.
